First To The Moon: 50 years since we left earth orbit

Wavelength Brewing Company is honored to welcome Francis French, Director of Education at the San Diego Air & Space Museum, for another great Friday Night Science Talk!

Half a century ago, humans first left the relative safety of Earth orbit for a three-day, quarter of a million mile journey to the moon. First, however, the Apollo program had to recover from a devastating fire that killed a crew, test the spacecraft - and do it with the deadline of the end of the decade looming.

Join us on a journey through the seven short years from the first flight into space to the first moon mission, with Russians and Americans neck and neck to claim the glory.

Open Source Maker Labs

Wavelength Brewing Company is proud to welcome back the team from Open Source Maker Labs for another great Friday Night Science Talk! Learn about #ProjectAtlas and how you can get involved!

Project Atlas is all about citizen science! OSML is building a science expedition vehicle to help get more people engaged by getting out in the field - to actually do science. To be able to go anywhere to do field research, you need a vehicle that can go there. OSML has acquired a military surplus 5-ton, six wheel drive truck, and they're building a portable lab on it. These are commonly called "expedition vehicles", are are essentially all-terrain, self-sustaining RV's. We're going to have Project Atlas parked in front of the brewery for the talk! We may even setup a telescope in the back ;-) Don't miss it!
